Founded in 1969, John O’Conner is a privately-owned grounds maintenance company that keeps people at its heart. It is dedicated to the continuous development of each and every employee, and that commitment is reflected by the high-quality services it delivers to its broad customer base, including local authorities, schools, health authorities, housing associations, facilities management companies and utilities providers.
Its strong ethos of training and development is demonstrated in its apprenticeship programme and, with many of its employees having been with the company for many years, its staff retention record reflects the value employees place on being in a supportive and nurturing environment. The company’s support for BALI has been constant since its founder, the late John O’Conner, joined the association in the late seventies. He served as National Chairman from 2006-2008 and was followed by his son Matt, the company’s current managing director, from 2018-2020.
